The Kjenndalsbreen is Norway in miniature

You can visit many different glacier arms of the Jostedalsbreen in the area of Loen. Last summer we combined our trip to Lovatnet with a visit to the Kjenndalsbreen! The least popular of four well-known glacier arms (Nigardsbreen, Brikdalsbreen, Bødalsbreen and Kjenndalsbreen) in this area, but to us this was one of the main reasons to pay the glacier a visit. You can find the Kjenndalsbreen south of the Lovatnet in Loen, nearby Stryn in Sogn og Fjordane. You can make the hike to the glacier arm as easy or hard as you’d like. For example you can start the hike down in the valley and walk up to the foot of the glacier within 45 minutes or you can…

Magical reindeer sleigh ride through the frozen valley of Camp Tamok

Warning! This article contains pictures of reindeer butts and a blonde woman with an insanely big smile on her face. I have been super passionate about reindeer for some time now. That’s not a secret. So when Bart-Jan and I decided to take a trip to Tromsø, I knew one thing for sure: I had to go on a sleigh ride with Santa’s helpers! I was super excited to go see the breathtaking Northern Lights, go whale watching in the fjords, but I had one main priority: to cuddle with REINDEER! Soon we discovered Lyngsfjord Adventure. An organization that’s specialized in dog sledding, reindeer sledding, snowmobile safari and sleeping under the Northern Lights.…

Hiking Langfoss got me addicted for life

Along the E134 highway, between Markus and Skare, rumbles one of the five highest waterfalls of Norway: the Langfoss. Literally: long (lang) waterfall (foss). Because of her wondrous surroundings and accessibility, the Langfoss has earned a spot on the CNN list of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world. The Langfoss is not only super impressive to watch herself, but the waterfall rages 600 meters down from the river Tjørna right into the bright green Åkrafjord terecht. On the opposite of the fjord is another little waterfall that ends into the fjord. All of this combined makes a dreamy scene that causes touringcars full of tourists to use the emergency brake…

    Living a fairytale in Tromsø

Last Wednesday, after a somewhat sloppy landing, we arrived at Schiphol Airport again. Because we had to go back to work the day after coming home and there was quite some housekeeping to do, it took me some time to write this story. It was worth it though, because we had such an amazing week. Walt Disney can’t even compete with our stories, because what we did was absolutely magical. Send two adults to Tromsø and they make their own fairytale. The most beautiful fairytale in the world. I hereby promise that I will write about all our expeditions and activities in seperate posts later on, for everyone who’s interested…
