About Lost in Norvana

Hei! Og velkommen til min blogg! My name is Michelle and I’m completely, utterly, hopelessly in love with Norway. And reindeer. And hiking. And nature. And adventure.

Oh and writing! But I never really followed through with a blog, even though I started a couple, because I thought they wouldn’t be interesting enough to read. Right until my boyfriend and I were in Norway in the summer of 2015 and several Norwegians told us that we had seen and learned more about the country then they ever did. It would be a shame if we wouldn’t put that to use, right? I figured it would be a good New Year’s Resolution to start a blog and so I did. I launched Lost in Norvana on January 2nd, 2016!

And I didn’t have to think really hard about the name. Norway has always been way more than a holiday destination for me. Hiking through the mountains lit a fire in me that didn’t go out since. In the mountains I feel stronger than ever and free as a bird. In Norway I feel at home and forget all my troubles. I feel happier than ever and I feel like home. In Norway I’m Michelle. In Norway I’m Lost in Norvana.

Nor·va·na

(nôr-vä′nə, nər-)

n.

1. often Norvana

a. A state in which the mind, enlightened as to the illusory nature of the self, transcends all sufferingand attains peace because of being in Norway

b. A state in which the soul, having relinquished individual attachments and recognized its identity withthe true self escapes reality because of being in Norway

2. An ideal condition of rest, harmony, stability, or joy.

Lost in Norvana is a combination of ‘Norway’ and ‘nirvana’. ‘Nirvana’ literally means ‘a person’s desires and suffering go away’. All desire has disappeared, no thought or worry will occupy your mind anymore. It’s a state of enlightment, complete bliss and peace.

So here we are. Lost in Norvana is no longer just an Instagram account or Facebook page, but became a website full of adventures and inspiration. On this blog I will share all my memories, experiences, pictures and my advices for an amazing and unforgettable time in Norway. And everything else that has something to do with Norway whatshowever. Enjoy!
